Hand Sanitizer CL

Be prepared to fight COLDS and FLU and don’t let the cold and flu season catch you off guard. Get ready to fight sore throat, fever, and other common cold and flu symptoms.

Because cold and flu viruses often spread from hands to face, you need to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after sneezing or blowing your nose.

Alcohol based hand sanitizers are harsh, so I looked for a sanitizer to make at home and I found one that I would like to share.

It works great and the benefits are that:

1.There is no alcohol, so it is less drying to the skin
2. It just takes two ingredients
3. You get to choose your scent

1/4 cup pure Aloe Vera gel
•  8 – 10 drops of your favorite antibacterial essential oil.

•  Mix together and keep in an easily accessible squeeze bottle or pump

Here are some of the antibacterial essential oils that you can use:

  • CLOVE (Syzgium aromaticum L) – love oil has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties. It smells great and is a good choice for cleaning. It also is great at repelling a variety of different insects and an effective agent for battling flu and colds.

  • LAVENDER (Lavandula angustifolia) – Its antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, and fungicidal actions make it particularly effective for cleaning.

  • LEMON (Citrus limon) – Lemon essential oil is not only antiseptic, antimicrobial, and bactericidal, but has also been shown to actually improve people’s moods.

  • MYRRH (Commiphora myrrha) – It is also reputed to be valued as a tonic, besides having antiseptic and anti-fungal properties.

  • PINE (Pinus sylvestris L) – Has a strong, fresh, resinous aroma and powerful antiseptic properties. It has both anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Careful handling of this strong essential oil is necessary, because it could cause skin irritation.

  • TEA TREE (Melaleuca alternifolia) – Tea tree oil is probably the most popular essential oil since it has strong antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties while at the same time being well tolerated by most people…even those with allergies. Scientific studies have been done showing its antibacterial actions and its promise in inhibiting certain flu viruses, combating Staph infections, and even treating the herpes simplex virus.

  • THYME (Thymus vulgaris) – Thyme oil has strong antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and works as an excellent disinfectant. Use a few drops in water on a rag to disinfect door handles and other contact surfaces during cold and flu season to help stop the spread of germs.

You should keep this hand sanitizer around the kitchen, car, and in your purse.

Best of all it is nontoxic and moisturizing for the skin. Plus you need less of it than you would the commercial hand sanitizers, and it’s much cheaper to make!

Remember . . . being germ free does not have to mean adding chemicals to your life.

CAUTION: If you are pregnant you should research and investigate before purchasing and using antibacterial and essential oils.
